The number of zones determines how many separate areas can be controlled independently. AISP Multi Zone Amplifiers are suitable for public address and background music systems that require different audio or volume settings in different rooms or areas.
A 2 zone amplifier is suitable for smaller installations that only need two independently controlled areas, such as a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, a clinic with reception and waiting areas, or a small office.
A 4 zone amplifier provides greater flexibility for small and medium commercial projects. Typical applications include schools, restaurants, meeting facilities and office buildings where several areas require separate audio control.
A 6 zone amplifier is widely used in commercial PA systems. It allows background music, paging and announcements to be distributed across up to six different areas.
Typical applications include schools, universities, hospitals, hotels, restaurants and commercial buildings.
For larger facilities requiring more independent areas, an 8 zone amplifier or multi-zone audio configuration provides greater flexibility for distributing different sources and controlling individual zones.
For projects requiring even more zones, multiple amplifiers or an audio matrix system can be integrated.
Commercial PA systems commonly use 70V or 100V speaker outputs because they allow multiple distributed speakers to operate over longer cable distances.
A 70V/100V multi zone amplifier is especially suitable for buildings with multiple ceiling speakers, wall-mounted speakers, horn speakers or column speakers distributed throughout different areas.
Common applications include:
● Schools and universities
● Hospitals and clinics
● Hotels and restaurants
● Office buildings
● Shopping centers
● Conference facilities
● Exhibition centers
● Public buildings
When selecting a 70V or 100V amplifier, calculate the combined transformer tap wattage of all speakers connected to each zone and leave sufficient amplifier power headroom for stable operation.
Zone count and amplifier channel count are related but are not always the same specification.
A zone refers to an independently controlled listening area, while a channel refers to an independent amplifier output path.
Depending on the system architecture, commercial audio projects may use 8-channel, 12-channel or 16-channel amplifiers for larger multi-room installations.
An 8 channel amplifier can be used for multi-room commercial audio systems where several speaker circuits require independent amplification and control.
A 12 channel amplifier is suitable for larger educational, hospitality and commercial installations requiring more independently powered speaker circuits.
A 16 channel amplifier is commonly considered for large multi-zone audio projects, campuses, multifunction facilities and centralized AV systems requiring a higher number of independent audio channels.
For complex 8/12/16-channel projects, a multi-channel power amplifier may also be combined with an Audio Matrix System for flexible source routing and zone management.
Output power should be selected according to the total speaker load rather than room size alone.
Common project requirements include:
Suitable for smaller speaker systems, individual classrooms, clinics, small restaurants, meeting rooms and low-power background music installations.
A popular choice for schools, offices, restaurants, conference rooms and medium-sized commercial areas using several distributed speakers.
Suitable for larger speaker quantities and commercial applications such as school floors, hotels, restaurants, halls and medium-sized public address systems.
Suitable for projects with higher speaker loads, larger halls, educational facilities and commercial buildings requiring greater amplification capacity.
Designed for larger distributed audio systems where more speakers or higher transformer tap settings are required across multiple zones.
For larger projects, higher-power amplification or multiple amplifiers can be used according to the speaker load and system architecture.
Selection Tip:
For a 70V/100V system, add the wattage of all speakers connected to the amplifier and reserve additional power headroom. Do not select an amplifier based only on the number of speakers.
Multi zone amplifiers can separate classrooms, corridors, libraries, cafeterias, playground areas and administrative offices into independent audio zones.
They are suitable for:
● Background music
● Bell and scheduled audio
● Campus announcements
● Paging
● Different volume levels by area
In auditoriums and lecture halls, multi-zone audio can independently manage lobby, stage, seating, backstage and auxiliary spaces.
The system can be integrated with microphones, mixers and other professional audio equipment for presentations and public speaking.
Hospitals and clinics often require different audio levels in reception areas, corridors, waiting rooms and staff areas.
Multi zone amplifiers allow announcements and background music to be managed without broadcasting every audio source throughout the entire facility.
Restaurants, bars and entertainment venues can divide dining rooms, private rooms, lounges, terraces and other areas into separate zones.
Different areas can use independent volume levels or audio sources according to their function.
Multi zone amplifiers are suitable for conference facilities containing multiple meeting rooms, boardrooms and common areas.
Independent zone control makes it easier to distribute speech, background audio and announcements to selected rooms.
Large multifunction halls and exhibition centers often require flexible audio zoning because the layout changes according to different events.
Multi-zone amplification allows audio to be distributed to selected exhibition areas, halls, entrances, corridors and public spaces.
AISP multi zone amplifiers are designed for professional commercial installations.
Common installation methods include:
● 19-inch rack mounting – Suitable for AV racks, control rooms and equipment cabinets.
● Centralized equipment room installation – Multiple amplifiers and audio processors can be installed together for easier system management.
● Distributed installation – Amplifiers can be installed closer to different building areas where required by the project architecture.
Rack-mounted installation is especially suitable for schools, hotels, conference centers and large commercial PA systems requiring centralized maintenance.
Different projects require different levels of audio control.
Multi zone amplifier configurations may support:
● Front-panel zone selection
● Independent zone volume control
● Microphone paging
● Paging priority
● Remote microphone control
● Wall controller integration
● Audio matrix control
● DSP control
● Network or remote control, depending on system configuration
For basic systems, local amplifier control may be sufficient. Larger commercial projects may require remote paging, centralized control or audio matrix integration.
Depending on the amplifier model and project requirements, common audio connections include:
● Microphone inputs
● AUX / LINE inputs
● Balanced and unbalanced audio inputs
● USB audio playback
● Bluetooth
● FM tuner
● SD / MP3 playback
● 70V / 100V speaker outputs
● Low-impedance speaker outputs
● Line outputs for system expansion
For large multi-zone installations, amplifiers can also be integrated with paging microphones, mixers, DSP processors, audio matrices and other PA system equipment.
